About Me

 
  My name is Kendall Bruton, and I am a artist from New York City now based in Austin, Texas. Through my artwork, I strive to leave a positive mark on all areas of life, inspiring individuals to discover their own unique feelings, thoughts, and stories. My brand, BlkFrekls for the soul, is inspired by life experiences and the Black community and culture. It stands to remind others that art has the potential to evoke emotions, be thought provoking, and soul-refreshing, like the classic book series "Chicken Soup For The Soul."

  This ethos comes from a journey of self-acceptance that I experienced while living in the sunny city of Austin. After overexposure to the sun caused scarring and discolorations to my face, I found it hard to be confident. Through a meaningful conversation with a coworker, however, I came to accept my appearance and wear my flaws as symbols of strength and endurance. Out of this experience, BlkFrekls(black freckles) was born, representing self-acceptance, confidence and peace. I am forever thankful for the life-changing connections this experience has given me, and I thank you for being a part of it.
